As we recruit and plan for our serve-a-thon project in two weekends on April 14, today is a great day to point my focus on the fundraising element of this event. While we work at our project at a school in Mesa, thousands of other volunteers will be working at the same time on many other projects resulting in over 4000 hours of volunteer service! You can feel the connective giving energy in the air … at least I always feel it!
Funds collected for this event help projects like we’ll be doing happen year-round in our community. Those dollars help fund Read To Me projects at domestic violence shelters, serve up a warm dinner at a shelter for working poor and homeless families, organize kickball games with volunteers and residents at a home for adults with developmental disabilities, do crafts with seniors and SO MUCH MORE.
